Finally, Dangerous Visions is here! Many of you have asked when Anderson's story would be here ... wait no more! For those who haven't read Endless Possibilities yet - don't worry. While Dangerous Visions is the second book in The Spiritual Gifts Series, it can be read as a standalone. For those unfamiliar with Anderson Evans - here is the synopsis: After awakening from a coma, Agent Anderson Evans struggles to see things clearly as visions plague him throughout the day. The only way to distance himself from his premonitions is to ride cross-country, where he is free from the intermittent flashes that appear from the occasional touch in the crowd. If only he could avoid the reoccurring vision of a woman struggling to survive, but she haunts him as if calling to him. Savannah Miles never expected that by taking on another bridal client, she’d be signing her death warrant. She soon finds herself caught up in an elaborate underworld that has her fleeing

His Timing

God's plans are so much bigger than what we could ever fathom. His vision extends further than our limited scope of what we want, need, or can comprehend. If there is something in your life that you're desperately praying for, do not give up hope or faith! There have been so many times that I prayed for something without understanding only to be blessed ten to fifteen years later! When his answer finally came , it did so with perfect timing, the exact fit, and completed me in such a way that I was overwhelmed with peace. If he'd said yes to me years earlier, I wouldn't have learned half of what I needed to, gained the spiritual understanding/strength to handle it, nor would I have the same appreciation. His timing is everything, so trust that He has your best interests at heart... even if the answer is no. It may just be... no, not right now. Let him feed you spiritually, grow you, and move you to where you need to be to see the big picture.
What is a weed?

From time-to-time my kid and I have heart-to-hearts. We've done this since he could speak. He's always had a wise soul and mind. The other day my 12-year-old kiddo was comparing a dandelion weed to how faith works. He said, "When you blow on the seeds that are carried in the wind - well that's like the holy spirit carrying the seed of faith that gets planted who knows where and grows a flower." I thought it was a beautiful sentiment. We didn't discuss the fact that it wa s a weed, as we're just a gangly group of ragamuffins, weeds, and mutts just trying to make it in a big bold world. And as such we all have our beauty as we grace the world with our differences, by showing others how our differences make the world a better place. After all, it was Ralph Waldo Emerson that said, 'What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered.' I think he and my kid would have had some deep conversations.
Through The Storms

It's May in Oklahoma. Anyone that lives in Tornado Alley knows what this means. This mixture of cool and warm temperatures leaves the area with high probability that severe weather will break out. We even have a national storm center here, in Oklahoma, with one of the top meteorology schools in Norman. Why do storm chasers flock here? Because the below picture is a common theme for Spring in Oklahoma. This multi-vortex wedge tornado was just forming when I took a quick photo of the news, but it went on to cause some major damage last night. As Oklahomans, we get asked how can we stand living here? We must be crazy! Well, there is extreme weather everywhere. Name a region that doesn't get tornados, earthquakes, flash flooding, tropical storms, or ice storms. Oklahoma just happens to get all of them. Last night, the storms were staying south of us, traveling east. (See that little circle up there? That's the general area where I live, in NW

There are days when you truly feel God's presence and know He's answering prayer. Then there are days when you are coasting, not really giving it much thought. And... there are days when you're recovering from a huge trial and are emotionally spent. Yesterday, I prayed for God to restore my soul - as my day was about as bad as I've had since I was in college, where things got pretty rough in my walk. Now, I'm not saying my walk was negatively affected yesterday. What I'm saying is the devil was doing his best to shake me up and rattle my cage. And if my walk wasn't solid - my world could have turned upside down. Without giving you details (as they're a bit too crazy to post here) I will say that by the time it was all said and done - my head was spinning. I wondered just how in the world I'd gotten to where I was, and started on a slippery slope that led to a pity party for about twenty minutes. Until I realized, that God has everything un

Since January, I feel like I'm on a merry-go-round that just keeps spinning faster and faster. Just a few of the things that have happened: As of Friday, my mom will have had 2 surgeries. My son has had 2 ER visits, and as of tomorrow 2 specialist visits. My grandmother has been in the ER twice and this last weekend had hip surgery, from which she's not recovering very well. She's not got fluid on her lungs and she's having to be restrained because she's not aware enough to understand to be still. She's a danger to her own recovery. Through it all - I think I might have gone a little crazy if it weren't for the peace that Jesus gives. And trust me when I say that the above list is just a small portion of things that have been occurring in my family's life. So right now, I'm taking a very deep breath, and thanking God for his peace and assurance. I am blessed by a wonderful family and knowing he is in control is my anchor through the st

Do you ever wonder about Heaven? If so, I highly encourage you to watch this testimony from Mike Mitchener. To give you an overview of what this video will share ... Mike's heart stopped four times one Sept 11, 2014 - and his widowmaker heart attack had complications that were mind-blowing. What's more, spell-binding is how God's perfecting timing and will wound around him, giving him the opportunity for healing, survival, and one heck of an experience in heaven before bringing him back to life. This is about 30 minutes but is a MUST WATCH!

So from time to time, I take a few photos. Okay, so maybe I do it every day. I'm a cloud fanatic. I'll often post them on Instagram at @KMcKay and tag them with #cloudporn or #cloudlovers. Last week, I was walking around the lake, with my best friend, Susan, when I stopped for this photo. Susan and I walk as our boys kayak or paddleboard during the week. It's good for her as she needs to get her steps in for the day, and it's good for me as I get to snap random photos along our walks. It's therapeutic for us both as we talk about what's going on in our lives, and we're able to let go of stresses or celebrate triumphs. And she allows me my indulgence of photo-snapping as we take certain turns around the lake. As I snapped the above photo, she paused and smiled - knowing I had to get 'just one more.' She doesn't skip a beat once I finish and we go on our way. I loved this photo so much that I changed m

It's no secret anymore... KD was announced as our MVP. Let me tell you why he's always been OKC's MVP: Because of his joy on the court Because of his easy leadership of his team, leading them all the be appreciative of the gifts they've been given. Because of his humble heart and resilient spirit. Because he loves his momma. And because he's not afraid to speak of his faith and humble beginnings. Because he inspires everyone around him to be a better person. As for the toppling MVP votes cast in his favor - they just cemented what we already knew. Kevin - you're our most valuable person and player. Keep being you. Keep giving the glory to God and Jesus. Keep playing your heart out and hugging your mom.

Growing up, we never participated in Lent ... as we were Protestants. However, I went to a Catholic private school for a few years as a kid. So I was familiar with the different traditions, like Ash Wednesday or Lent. Over the last decade or so, Lent is been more mainstream through other churches, other than just Catholic. My sister has always participated, and within the last five to seven years my mother followed suit. I never felt it necessary. After all ... I tried to live the right kind of life year-round ... right? Well, I've said this before and I'll repeat it here. When it seems like your faith is exactly where you think it should be - when you think you're at your peak in your walk ... watch out. Because God is so big, and His ways are so great - that you can never stop learning. And when you feel you're doing just fine in your walk ... you're probably coasting. God has so much more for you. So over the last few years, I've contemplated L

Thankfully it takes a lot of different personalities in life, or our existence would become very mundane. Have you heard the saying, 'It's not for everyone?'. I'm sure you have, as we all have different opinions on matters that are formed by our own backgrounds and experiences. Is an atheist going to appreciate a preacher's point of view? Probably not - and vice versa. However, I have a few atheist friends, who although they may not agree with my stance on faith, appreciate my choice to have faith. And I, in return, appreciate their choice not to. Most of the people in my life are giving people, who see that it takes all kinds to run this world of ours. So no matter what their lifestyle or beliefs, they know I appreciate them for them without reservation and expect the same respect in return. This relationship with a person of differing views isn't typical throughout the world though. Usually, when polar opposites have differing opinions, there wil

So those of you who've been asking for a while --- wait no longer! It took me a bit longer than expected, as I have a full-time job and a family to watch over. Whew. It's been a bit of a journey as my former publisher left a very bad taste in my mouth, but I won't get into details here. Let's just say I'm happy to have a new path that will give me what I need. Facing Redemption will release September 15th, and I'll have a book launch party in OKC at Sauced. If you're in OKC, I'd love to have you. Just email me at kimberlymckayauthor@gmail.com so I can keep an accurate headcount. We'll have a drawing for some door prizes, one being a free book with some other pretty cool items bundled in. So, if you've wondered whatever became of Timothy and Chastity... If you're dying to know if Chastity read John's letter... Or if you're interested in knowing more about the rest of the story... It's all coming soon. Below is

If we're honest with ourselves ... the most attention we may pay to God is when we need something. We pray ... God, I really need that raise.. . or God...take away the cancer. And in saying this, I by no means am saying there is anything wrong with that. God wants to hear our desires and needs! When we're in crisis or desperate for something to be filled for us, it's important to relay our needs to our heavenly father. But what about those times when everything is going smoothly? How much time do you spend glorifying his name for the blessings we all take for granted? How many raise up each morning looking to our Bible and spending time with him? This is the most important part of our relationship with him!!! I have to admit, I don't read the Bible as much as I should. Each day, I have so much going on so quick - that I start my day and off I go. During the day, I do pray continuously. It's like ongoing communication, even when I drive. So here'

Once in a while, you get one of those feel-good spiritually uplifting moments and you can feel God's arms wrap around you and your heart. It's as if you can almost feel His presence right inside you, reminding you of his love. Well, what I'm getting ready to tell you about is also one of those feel-good, uplifting projects that will give you goosebumps. You all know I'm a fan of Hallmark anything - and it's not just because I've met Brad Moore, the President of Hallmark Films. It's also because of the quality of the films they put out. When I hear of anything new of theirs, I grab my tissue box and get ready for a sweet and clean movie. My husband makes fun of me every time, yet he often stops and watches, interested whether he'd admit or not. Let's face it ... he makes fun of me a lot. I cry at Extreme Home Makeover. I cry at a military USAA commercial, with the scene where the troops finally come home and rush into the arms of their love

Music from 'Farm Story' softly plays in the background, while my son plays - and I work on my photos for my latest client. (Ok ... so I am taking a few minutes to blog - but I'm still working) I recently stepped down as Asst. Manager at the boutique (store shall remain un-named) at the mall. Due to the fact that I had to continually keep turning down photo jobs because my store manager wouldn't let me off had me rethinking where I needed to spend my time. I wasn't doing her any good asking off all the time, and the j.o.b wasn't really helping us out that much as far as revenue. The realization hit when telling my son yet one more time that I wouldn't be home for another bedtime because I had to close my store, but that I'd see him in the morning. He looked to me with sad eyes and asked, "Mom, why don't you just stop working so hard and work smarter?" Then the next week a friend dropped by with what I thought was a note. We hadn&

Although I make substantially less money with the job I have taken, it allows me more mommy time at home with my son. I don't have to be at an office at a certain time in the morning, which means I am able to get him to school without rushing. And the days he's not in school, I'm able to wake him up and cuddle as much as I want until he's awake enough to be independent. Lately, people have been asking me how we're getting by as a family. I just keep telling them, "We're doing alright...actually we're doing great. Yeah, we have to shuffle a little when it comes to paying bills...but you can't put a value on the time I get with my son!" No one can argue with that! I am so blessed. I thank God every day for providing me with the opportunity to work for my company. I am one of those mom's who has to work...we wouldn't make it on one income. After months of praying, God handed me this opportunity, and I see his blessings every d

Every child is a blessing. A gift God bestows upon us to shape into a responsible adult. A child to protect, love, and provide for. That child is helpless without us. I know every loving mom out there, doesn’t know how she got by before having kids. Personally, for me, I can’t imagine my life without my child and possible future children-if that’s God’s will. My husband and I tried for only a short year to have children before we went to a fertility specialist. We just wanted to be proactive — to see if we were both capable of bearing children. We were both young and healthy, and I never imagined I’d receive the most horrible news a female could have dropped in her lap. After running a few tests, the top fertility specialist in the state told us that between my husband and me—we would most likely never conceive on our own. He laid out some fertility solutions, and followed up with, “Even with treatment, chances would be slim that you’ll conceive.” Wow, talk about black and white.
