For Those Who Have Asked ...

Image
Lately, I've been asked about the order of which my books should be read, so I thought I'd do a quick post here on my blog. Although I do have four books in a series, it was an accidental series.  When writing Finding Kylie, I honestly had no intention of continuing the journey for the other characters in the book.  I thought I'd release Finding Kylie and see what else came my way as far as storylines. You see - Finding Kylie was my 'what if' in life.  It's been said we should write what we know,  so I did. Only I fictionalized my what if in life. After concluding Finding Kylie with a somewhat open but definite ending, I couldn't fathom putting myself in a position to write a story I wasn't emotionally or spiritually prepared for.  To continue Chastity's story with her father meant stepping into some shoes I wasn't prepared for. That was until I continued to receive emails from readers who were wondering 'what was in John's let...

Grace Aundine, beautiful socialite and member of one of  the most notable families on the east coast hasn’t known  real love since the death of her parents.  Controlled by her  grandmother, betrayed by her boyfriend, and abandoned by  her sister, Grace is on the run and in hiding from  her family and the world. Nathan Burkette just wanted to be left alone.  He knew all  too well about being betrayed by the ones you love.  After  getting out of the military - Burke chose a solitary life on Oahu,  where he thought no one would bother him ... until Grace  shows up on his beach ... alone, battered, and looking like  she could jump out of her skin.  Burke tries to leave Grace to her own devices, as she sits  alone on the sandy shores behind his home, but fate  intervenes.  Before both of them know it - they are not  only falling in love but onto a dangerous path, that leads  straight int...

The Indie Book Show

I met Will Wilson this past summer when I found his page on Facebook for his Indie Book Show . His show centers around up and coming Indie Authors, such as myself and numerous others.  It was an honor to be his guest on his weekly BlogTalkRadio show this past Friday. For anyone that cares to, I'm posting the link here  for your listening enjoyment.  He asks some insightful questions, but be warned as I was having some allergy and breathing problems.  Please excuse me when I sound out of breath. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/indiebooks/2014/11/14/indie-books-show-61

Newest Review for COMING HOME

Imagine my surprise when I woke up on Sunday to messages and comments from friends and family like ... "Great review" ... "Congratulations!" I had no idea what they were referring to as I didn't know anything was being written or going into our local paper, The Oklahoman.  So I quickly got my iPhone and looked up their online paper,  newsok.com  and found this story: “Coming Home” by Kimberly McKay (CreateSpace, 340 pages, available at Amazon.com) I liked getting to know the spunky but broken Anne LaSal in Oklahoma author Kimberly McKay’s “Finding Kylie” and “Facing Redemption,” so it was a treat to get more of her story in “Coming Home.” Anne is the best friend of the main character Chastity in the two earlier books written by this budding writer.  McKay, who at one time worked for The Oklahoman, does a great job of setting up the suspense — will it be romance or sparks? — when Anne agrees to be on the popular “Broadcast Affair” n...

Humbling Responses

This was a review on Amazon, which was left recently for Finding Kylie.  Between reviews like this ...  and supportive texts (see below) from some of my favorite blogger buddies, like Terri , about COMING HOME - I'm so happy. Sometimes God gives me inspiration on what needs to be included in my books ... sometimes I pray - not knowing - and it just evolves from there.  Either way, I have to believe they're just as they should be -- with a message for someone who needs it.  So keep reading America and let me know how each book has touched you.

The Launch Was a Success

Image
This weekend was the launch for COMING HOME, and I'm still reeling from the number of people that came in from all over the country.  There were people from California, Kansas, Texas, and of course... Oklahoma. Although it was the launch for COMING HOME, I also had my other books for sale.  Finding Kylie has been re-released with a new cover, it was also a highlight of the day. For a few hours, it was non-stop traffic, with about one-hundred and forthy in attendance. The Shave Ice stand and the Egg Roll truck I had on-site were also a plus.  From the free appetizers to door prizes - customers were lining up in support of my big day. After I signed each book, I slipped out from my table for a picture with each new reader.  Here are a few for your enjoyment. Thank you to all of you who drove in for the fun event.  I'm so grateful to you all and blessed by each one of you. I look forward to your reviews coming in.  To...

Great News

Image
This week has been very productive.  Not only did I get the final cover signed off on - for COMING HOME, but I also got the mock cover finished for the re-release of FINDING KYLIE, which will be available next month as well.  This way - I can have a few copies of FINDING KYLIE available at my book launch party for COMING HOME. Speaking of COMING HOME - I woke up today to an email from a writer, who gave a very positive review. It was published in Blogcritics magazine and the Seattle pi. You can see Blogcritics review  here and the Seattle pi review  here  -- but if you don't want to read the whole thing, then let me post the best part for your convenience: " Coming Home   is really about Anne and her ability to come to terms with the things that have shaped her past: the death of her parents, the inability to live in the elite world of her grandparents, the failed relationships, and, most of all, the alienation of her little sister Grace. But...

New Books to Release This Year

It's interesting to see a story evolve and characters grow, as one writes a book.  In writing my third book, Coming Home, I have grown leaps and bounds as an author.  I've been stretched and refined, which I think will result in wonderful things for this book. Initially, my intent was to weave a great storyline around Anne La Sal, a character from my first two books, Finding Kylie & Facing Redemption.  In both books, she is the ever-supportive best friend who is developed more in Facing Redemption to garner the character to withstand her own story. Coming Home was originally going to be a dual storyline about Anne and her estranged sister Grace, however, I started to fall in love with Grace's character so much that I decided to give her own story with Saving Grace. These four books are the Forgiveness Series. That being said I've got two books releasing this year... Coming Home & Saving Grace. They will release at the time so that readers do not have to w...
