5 STARS

Image
I found my first review on Goodreads today.  I was like - YES!  People are surprised and feeling - truly feeling - the emotion that I poured into every page. So far Amazon has four reviews - all 5-stars. From the day I started writing this one - God whispered in my heart, 'This is the one.'  I don't know the extent of what that means until all the chips fall, but so far this is starting out much better than the other books I've released! If you've never read any of my books --- YOU NEED TO START WITH THIS ONE. It's something special ...  the synopsis tells a bit of the story, but by no means delves into the whole thing.  There's not enough room on the back cover of a book to give readers a glimpse of what truly is between the pages. If you're able to read this one - please leave me a review.  Reviews are how other readers find me. So, I thank you in advance! AND THANK YOU, NELL!  I'm honored you like my books.

For Those Who Have Asked ...

Image
Lately, I've been asked about the order of which my books should be read, so I thought I'd do a quick post here on my blog. Although I do have four books in a series, it was an accidental series.  When writing Finding Kylie, I honestly had no intention of continuing the journey for the other characters in the book.  I thought I'd release Finding Kylie and see what else came my way as far as storylines. You see - Finding Kylie was my 'what if' in life.  It's been said we should write what we know,  so I did. Only I fictionalized my what if in life. After concluding Finding Kylie with a somewhat open but definite ending, I couldn't fathom putting myself in a position to write a story I wasn't emotionally or spiritually prepared for.  To continue Chastity's story with her father meant stepping into some shoes I wasn't prepared for. That was until I continued to receive emails from readers who were wondering 'what was in John's let...

Reviews Make Me Smile

Image
From time to time, I'll get onto Amazon or Goodreads and see that more people have left me a review for one of my books.  And no matter if its a 5-star or a 1-star review, I smile.  Even the bad reviews (although I'd rather they be good ones) mean someone was moved enough to take the time to review. And in all honesty - no one is going to get 5-star reviews one-hundred percent of the time.  Look at every President or public figure in the world, do they have a one-hundred percent satisfaction rate?  No!  So, why would a little author like me? This week, I've seen some really sweet reviews come in though.  They've been the kind that makes your heart warm. So for those of you out there, who have been kind enough to leave such heartwarming words ... THANK YOU! Here is one, for FACING REDEMPTION, that particularly made my day: From time to time, I'll post a favorite or two here.  So if you've ever enjoyed my books.  Leave a review...

a few reviews

So a few people have sent me some more than kind words on their thoughts about ' Facing Redemption' . They've emailed, texted, and even left one on Amazon. I encourage anyone, who has read it, to leave one on Amazon, like this nice reader did .  In case you don't want to click the link - here's her posting word for word: I highly recommend this book! It made me laugh and cry. Even though it is fiction (which I don't usually read), the characters felt very real life to me. It's available as a Kindle download or regular book. It took me only 2 days to read it. I didn't want to put it down! I will need to order the prequel to this book now - Finding Kylie. For a couple more go to my author website here: http://www.kimberlymckayauthor.com/  I can't wait to hear what you say. :) And I'll have some blogger pals chiming in soon... stay tuned.

After the luanch ...

The launch was an amazing experience. Pardon me for not blogging sooner. I think I'm still recovering. It was a non-stop stream of people coming through the door from 5:30 p.m. to about 9:30 p.m.  At one point the line was out the door. I just couldn't believe that people were driving in from Texas, St. Louis and where ever else... I want to send a big thank you to all of you, who drove in from near and far to support. I am so blessed by each one of you. I hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as I did. I loved hearing how much you loved the story lines and characters. I loved how much you were invested in me and my characters. I also needed to post the above picture. How many launch parties have the cover model on hand? Mine did! He was there to take pics with the ladies and was very kind to stay the whole time. I'm surrounded by amazing support from the readers to those, who played their part to make this book happen (including the cover model). I...

Save The Date - Facing Redemption Release

Facing Redemption to release in September

So those of you who've been asking for a while --- wait no longer! It took me a bit longer than expected,  as I have a full-time job and a family to watch over.  Whew.  It's been a bit of a journey as my former publisher left a very bad taste in my mouth, but I won't get into details here. Let's just say I'm happy to have a new path that will give me what I need. Facing Redemption will release September 15th, and I'll have a book launch party in OKC at Sauced. If you're in OKC, I'd love to have you.  Just email me at kimberlymckayauthor@gmail.com so I can keep an accurate headcount. We'll have a drawing for some door prizes, one being a free book with some other pretty cool items bundled in. So, if you've wondered whatever became of Timothy and Chastity... If you're dying to know if Chastity read John's letter... Or if you're interested in knowing more about the rest of the story... It's all coming soon. Below is...

Payoffs From My Doc

Usually when your doctor calls you it's for one of three things: 1) You're due for your appt or missed it. 2) You owe them money. 3) The test results came back and it's not good. Even with the above list, I don't think I can ever remember my doctor(s) calling me on my cell in the last ten years.  Imagine my surprise when I get a voice mail from Sharon, my doctor's nurse, a few weeks ago.  I turned up the volume on my phone to make sure I took in every word of her message, because this had to be important stuff for them to initiate a call to me. Imagine my surprise - even bigger this time - in that her message was not medically related at all!  Now what in the world would Sharon or my fav doc need so desperately that they're trying to track me down? Well - they wanted books! And not just any book...mine. I laughed at her message which in short said 'that the copy of Finding Kylie I'd given doctor was in the patient waiting room, where many wom...

A small but worthy review

In a tough economy, it's hard to sell anything that's not needed. To me, the one thing needed is a good story to take you away from any stress you may have currently in your own life! But it's clear I'm not normal...and not everyone is a reader. At this point, I'm still waiting to know how many copies of Finding Kylie have sold, but I know it's making somewhat of a ripple. I get too many emails from random people, who I have no ties to for it not to have made an impact. Days like these are well worth the wait when I get a wonderful comment from a random stranger sent to me via Facebook or email: Pj Blevins- I just finished your book and it is spectacular. I love books that make me cry! I can so emphasize with Chastity in losing her Mother as I lost mine a year ago. Can't wait to see what happens to her in your next book. Hope it comes out soon. Thank you miss PJ - whoever you are...where ever you are. You and those like you, who take this book to...

Stages

My sent went through a really rough patch for about six weeks, where everything made him angry. Everything became an argument. He got very physical by hitting or nudging me with his head when he didn't get his way. It was becoming very overwhelming and exhausting. I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong or what to do about it, because nothing was working. Thankfully I had some mommy friends, who had kids at the same age, who said that their little 'used to be angels' were also displaying the same type of behavior. Then my sister's boyfriend reassured me that his son, at four, had all the same issues. This gave me a huge sense of relief. I exhaled and felt normal. Okay...maybe it wasn't my doing something wrong that was causing the behavior?! In the last six weeks, I've just stuck to my guns without giving in. I let my yes mean yes, and my no mean NO. Either the phase has played itself out or he finally got the idea that his testing his boundaries...
