What's in a Name?

When creating names for my character in any of my books, sometimes deep thought goes into what I name them ... and then one name will just spark something within and it becomes a name, which was meant to be. Sometimes a name may come to me in a dream. Then there are always those particular readers that send me an email or leave a good review, and if they make me smile - their first name may make it into my next book. So tell me - if you've read my books - which character has spoken to you most? Would have been the same if Chastity Banks were named Pam Brown? Or did her name, Chastity, give her something extra in your imagery of how she portrayed the character? As I'm creating my fifth book, I'm loving some of the names that have come to me. I'm still re-working how they fit together. However, I'd love to hear from you ... write to me at kimberlymckayauthor@gmail.com and tell me who your favorite character has been to date. cursing at 6?

Recently, I took my son to Build a Bear. We'd never gone before and I felt it would be a great Valentine's gift. And I was right! Little T loved it! He picked out a fuzzy dog, donned him in an OKC Thunder uniform, and fell in love with 'Skruffy'. He took Skruffy everywhere for the next few days ... even shoving him in his backpack to sneak into school. However, Skruffy messed up and now is homebound. All I know is that we were out our door a couple days ago - dog in hand. I handed my little guy his chewy sour vitamins and turned to put my shoes on. The thing I know I'm hearing cursing coming from my entryway. "Stop shidding on my vitamins!" my little guy yells. "What? What did you say?" I tried to not laugh or start putting on my discipline face. (because I didn't know which one to do) "Stop shidding on my vitamins!" (rolls his eyes at me) "C'mon Mom ... you know Skruffy sheds!" I couldn't hol...

Dog gonit!

A few months ago my dog got out of our back yard and was gone overnight. It was traumatizing for our whole family. We were consumed with finding him as he was fourteen years old, needed his medication, and is blind as a bat. I just knew he would be hit by a car. It was the first time my son had seen me cry...okay bawl like a baby...and he kept getting a dishrag to dry my face. It was really hard on him in a matter of different ways. Well this morning, I left the garage door open to allow my engine to run and warm-up. My chocolate lab has never runoff while in the midst of his food. And his bowl was full, so I let him out in the garage to eat. It wasn't a worry of him running because he'd never before. Well, there's a first time for everything. I stepped out to load up my son for school, and Hershey was M.I.A and nowhere to be seen. I ran down the driveway calling his name as my little boy stood by our car, distressed. "What do I do mommy? Where is he...
