Mr. Rogers Would be Sad

I have to admit. I've not watched the news in a very long time, because of how the negativity has hit an all-time high. The few seconds it may be on stresses me out, and when we are stressed - we're not at our best. It's hard to be fair or kind when your heart is full of chaos. The below NOT a political debate, rant, or meant to start any heated conversations. You all know I stay far away from anything political when posting. This is purely an observation from the heart. So please, no comments that spur anger from anyone. My husband and I are not straight-party voters. This world has become SO 'us vs. them.' that it's harmful to the process of what our country was founded on. People can't even express an opinion without backlash or being polarized as a villain if it's against popular opinion. It is no longer possible to lear...

Looking Past All the Political Madness

So I've been avoiding the news and all social media for a while.  There's just too much hate seething from every aspect, every post, and everyone.  Friends are un-friending friends because their political views or comments don't line up.  Riots are sparked and the news does nothing but fuel their fire. No matter who I voted for - I look forward to getting past this year's drama.  Since I'm a praying woman, I'm going to pray for our President and give him a chance.  I'm going to hope for a real change this time. Now, do I think one person can turn things around?  No, absolutely not.  The nation has never hung in the balance ov...

Perception

After chilling for the month to chill and especially the last couple of days, I'm just catching up to central standard time, wishing I was still on island time. None the less, it's time to get back to daily life, which means running errands and taking care of things like voting. Yesterday, was such a day - voting day. There is a vo-tech near my house where I'm registered to vote. After rolling up to the entrance in a white tank top and no makeup, I'm sure some would raise an eyebrow or two. While I shouldn't be out of place on a school campus, most ladies in Oklahomans get dressed to the nines. Add the fact that it's hotter than hades so my hair does nothing in this weather. And, in the dead of our summers, shorts are a must. Walking in, I got the standard question, "Democrat or Republican?" Which I replied, "Republican please." Not that I'm a straight party girl, but if I have to choose then I fall in that cat...
