In seven days, the hard read for my first book is happening! If you've not read any of my earlier blogs, the script for Finding Kylie has been funded for a hard read. Film producer, John Schwab, and I have been trying to get to this stage for a long concentrated time  - but the stars hadn't aligned until recently. A nationally renowned drama department has agreed to work with us to do the hard read so that we may see the fruits of our work on stage versus just on paper.  This will allow us to see what truly works 'off the page' and what needs to be tweaked before talking to investors and hitting the film markets. On the 24th, at 2 p.m. CST, I'll be in a theater with a cast, a set director, and director to watch Finding Kylie dramatically unfold. Okay - I admit - this is a horrible photo of me, but I had to introduce you to my set director for the reading of Finding Kylie. The date is set for October 3rd, and she has such vision and passion that I know it's going to turn out great! We met for lunch today and she (upon meeting me for the first time) enveloped me in a huge hug. I knew I loved her ... she has a heart and a bright smile. We talked about the visuals she's going to put in place and then, in turn, asked me about who each character was.  Not just 'what does Timothy look like?' but 'Who is he and what makes him tick?' This way when casting they would put the right actor in place to make each character as authentic as possible. By the questions, she asked I could tell she'd poured over the script, not just perused it.  So I had to ask her ... what she thought.  Her words blew me away.  In essence, she loved it.  This is a well-versed professional, who knows her stuff, and she loved ...

After Finding Kylie was published, a film producer from London reached out to me asking to be a part of the script, insisting that it would be perfect for the screen.  He also warned it was a TON of hard work invested with a LONG turn around as the film industry can take years. 
 I thought, 'Okay a couple years. I can handle that.' However, here we are about eight years later and a major door finally opened.    For the last four years, we've been trying to get a hard read set up.  For those of you who have no idea what a hard read is, I'll explain.  It's basically doing a dry run or a read with real actors, to make sure it is what we think it is 'off the paper'. We've written the script, and in our heads (in 2D) it's perfect - but when acted out or read aloud in 3D - it may not sync.  This just helps me and John , who is the film producer and my writing partner for the script, see it in person to finesse it so that we can ...
