Lately, I've been asked about the order of which my books should be read, so I thought I'd do a quick post here on my blog. Although I do have four books in a series, it was an accidental series.  When writing Finding Kylie, I honestly had no intention of continuing the journey for the other characters in the book.  I thought I'd release Finding Kylie and see what else came my way as far as storylines. You see - Finding Kylie was my 'what if' in life.  It's been said we should write what we know,  so I did. Only I fictionalized my what if in life. After concluding Finding Kylie with a somewhat open but definite ending, I couldn't fathom putting myself in a position to write a story I wasn't emotionally or spiritually prepared for.  To continue Chastity's story with her father meant stepping into some shoes I wasn't prepared for. That was until I continued to receive emails from readers who were wondering 'what was in John's let...

Unexpectedly, my fifth book, Second Chances, has come together pretty quick.  I had a long timeline scheduled to make sure I'd stay on track for a Spring of 2016 release.  However, the cover came together faster than initially thought, and the person reviewing the book got me her write-up today versus the end of the month. This past weekend we finally wrapped up the reading for FINDING KYLIE.  Working with these actors at Oklahoma City University School of Theatre was such a unique and amazing experience. For years my writing partner, John Schwab, and I have been working toward the hard read in order to edit our final draft of the screenplay for Finding Kylie. This step was supposed to give us insight on what needed to be tweaked, added, or changed to take our script to the next level. And now that it's over, all I have to say is WOW. The kids did a phenomenal job in portraying the actors and their personalities, quirks, and insecurities.  Thanks to them - we were able to see what worked and what needs to change. Some people have asked me what comes next. Now - we continue work our script from across the globe with the updated edits.  We Skype and FaceTime to discuss potential changes and put the work in. In seven days, the hard read for my first book is happening! If you've not read any of my earlier blogs, the script for Finding Kylie has been funded for a hard read. Film producer, John Schwab, and I have been trying to get to this stage for a long concentrated time  - but the stars hadn't aligned until recently. A nationally renowned drama department has agreed to work with us to do the hard read so that we may see the fruits of our work on stage versus just on paper.  This will allow us to see what truly works 'off the page' and what needs to be tweaked before talking to investors and hitting the film markets. On the 24th, at 2 p.m. CST, I'll be in a theater with a cast, a set director, and director to watch Finding Kylie dramatically unfold. I've tried not to think about it as I'm not the type to really start getting the jitters until right before an event. In just a few weeks, I'll release one of my favorite books to date. When I started writing, I didn't set out to write a series.  I started with just one book, Finding Kylie, a contemporary romance and family saga about two women and their journey through past and present to learn about love and becoming survivors.  I left the ending somewhat open, while still having closure for the main character. I could have left it alone after Finding Kylie, but the story was so endearing to readers - that I got email after email asking 'what happens next?'.  Hence, the sequel, Facing Redemption was born, but it didn't happen overnight.  To tell the other side of the story, I had to put myself into some shoes that weren't savory and to do that it meant I had to learn to fully forgive.  You see ... these two books are very personal to me for very real reasons.  Read the forward of Facing Redemption and you'll know why. I met Will Wilson this past summer when I found his page on Facebook for his Indie Book Show . Imagine my surprise when I woke up on Sunday to messages and comments from friends and family like ... "Great review" ... "Congratulations!" This week has been very productive.  Not only did I get the final cover signed off on - for COMING HOME, but I also got the mock cover finished for the re-release of FINDING KYLIE, which will be available next month as well.  This way - I can have a few copies of FINDING KYLIE available at my book launch party for COMING HOME. Speaking of COMING HOME - I woke up today to an email from a writer, who gave a very positive review. It was published in Blogcritics magazine and the Seattle pi. From time to time, readers will email me photos of themselves, with a copy of my books. I've seen some pretty fantastic pics over the years. A few are displayed here . However, this week I received THE photo of all photos when a reader sent me her idea of what I call book blasting (the art of taking a book and post pics with it everywhere). It's interesting to see a story evolve and characters grow, as one writes a book.  In writing my third book, Coming Home, I have grown leaps and bounds as an author.  I've been stretched and refined, which I think will result in wonderful things for this book. Initially, my intent was to weave a great storyline around Anne La Sal, a character from my first two books, Finding Kylie & Facing Redemption.  In both books, she is the ever-supportive best friend who is developed more in Facing Redemption to garner the character to withstand her own story. Coming Home was originally going to be a dual storyline about Anne and her estranged sister Grace, however, I started to fall in love with Grace's character so much that I decided to give her own story with Saving Grace. After last weeks Facing Redemption downloads from Kindle (which at one point were over 1,500 in one day), I was hoping to hear from some readers after they finished the book.  I  thought maybe in a few weeks or a month, a few might trickle in. However, yesterday, I got an email with the subject line, which read Finding Kylie . Again, I didn't expect this to be anything related to Facing Redemption as it was referencing my first book - not my second. I opened it up, only to read a sweet letter from a very nice lady.  It said she had just read Facing Redemption on her  Kindle but could not find Finding Kylie electronically, and wanted to know the best way to get her hands on a copy.  She also wanted to know when Coming Home was going to be released. I explained that since my contract was up with my previous publisher, she pulled everything off Kindle and that she'd have to order a hard copy. Of all the reviews, Facing Redemption has received to date, this one is the most heartfelt yet. It even comes with some special pictures, of some of my favorite readers ... my favorite blogger friend, Terri Terri , and my new for legged fans, as seen in the photo below.   Terri is a wonderfully creative person, whose heart is always in what she writes.  And, one of these days, I know she'll write a book of her own.   To prove my point, she could have just written a nice review of the book and left it at that. No ... being the awesome girl that she is ... she delved deeper and blogged about our friendship and blogging history.  So a few people have sent me some more than kind words on their thoughts about ' Facing Redemption' . They've emailed, texted, and even left one on Amazon. I encourage anyone, who has read it, to leave one on Amazon, like this nice reader did .  In case you don't want to click the link - here's her posting word for word: I highly recommend this book! It made me laugh and cry. Even though it is fiction (which I don't usually read), the characters felt very real life to me. It's available as a Kindle download or regular book. The launch was an amazing experience. Pardon me for not blogging sooner. I think I'm still recovering. It was a non-stop stream of people coming through the door from 5:30 p.m. to about 9:30 p.m.  At one point the line was out the door. I just couldn't believe that people were driving in from Texas, St. Louis and where ever else... I want to send a big thank you to all of you, who drove in from near and far to support. I am so blessed by each one of you. I hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as I did. I loved hearing how much you loved the story lines and characters. I loved how much you were invested in me and my characters. I also needed to post the above picture. How many launch parties have the cover model on hand? Mine did! He was there to take pics with the ladies and was very kind to stay the whole time.
