Meet the Set Director For Finding Kylie

Image
Okay - I admit - this is a horrible photo of me, but I had to introduce you to my set director for the reading of Finding Kylie. The date is set for October 3rd, and she has such vision and passion that I know it's going to turn out great! We met for lunch today and she (upon meeting me for the first time) enveloped me in a huge hug. I knew I loved her ... she has a heart and a bright smile. We talked about the visuals she's going to put in place and then, in turn, asked me about who each character was.  Not just 'what does Timothy look like?' but 'Who is he and what makes him tick?' This way when casting they would put the right actor in place to make each character as authentic as possible. By the questions, she asked I could tell she'd poured over the script, not just perused it.  So I had to ask her ... what she thought.  Her words blew me away.  In essence, she loved it.  This is a well-versed professional, who knows her stuff, and she loved ...

Humbling Responses

This was a review on Amazon, which was left recently for Finding Kylie.  Between reviews like this ...  and supportive texts (see below) from some of my favorite blogger buddies, like Terri , about COMING HOME - I'm so happy. Sometimes God gives me inspiration on what needs to be included in my books ... sometimes I pray - not knowing - and it just evolves from there.  Either way, I have to believe they're just as they should be -- with a message for someone who needs it.  So keep reading America and let me know how each book has touched you.

What's in a Name?

When creating names for my character in any of my books, sometimes deep thought goes into what I name them ... and then one name will just spark something within and it becomes a name, which was meant to be. Sometimes a name may come to me in a dream. Then there are always those particular readers that send me an email or leave a good review, and if they make me smile - their first name may make it into my next book. So tell me - if you've read my books - which character has spoken to you most? Would have been the same if Chastity Banks were named Pam Brown? Or did her name, Chastity, give her something extra in your imagery of how she portrayed the character? As I'm creating my fifth book, I'm loving some of the names that have come to me. I'm still re-working how they fit together. However, I'd love to hear from you ... write to me at kimberlymckayauthor@gmail.com and tell me who your favorite character has been to date. If your words speak to me -- y...

Reviews Make Me Smile

Image
From time to time, I'll get onto Amazon or Goodreads and see that more people have left me a review for one of my books.  And no matter if its a 5-star or a 1-star review, I smile.  Even the bad reviews (although I'd rather they be good ones) mean someone was moved enough to take the time to review. And in all honesty - no one is going to get 5-star reviews one-hundred percent of the time.  Look at every President or public figure in the world, do they have a one-hundred percent satisfaction rate?  No!  So, why would a little author like me? This week, I've seen some really sweet reviews come in though.  They've been the kind that makes your heart warm. So for those of you out there, who have been kind enough to leave such heartwarming words ... THANK YOU! Here is one, for FACING REDEMPTION, that particularly made my day: From time to time, I'll post a favorite or two here.  So if you've ever enjoyed my books.  Leave a review...

New Books to Release This Year

It's interesting to see a story evolve and characters grow, as one writes a book.  In writing my third book, Coming Home, I have grown leaps and bounds as an author.  I've been stretched and refined, which I think will result in wonderful things for this book. Initially, my intent was to weave a great storyline around Anne La Sal, a character from my first two books, Finding Kylie & Facing Redemption.  In both books, she is the ever-supportive best friend who is developed more in Facing Redemption to garner the character to withstand her own story. Coming Home was originally going to be a dual storyline about Anne and her estranged sister Grace, however, I started to fall in love with Grace's character so much that I decided to give her own story with Saving Grace. These four books are the Forgiveness Series. That being said I've got two books releasing this year... Coming Home & Saving Grace. They will release at the time so that readers do not have to w...

Facing Redempton best seller in Kindle store

Image
Now granted it's a best seller in the free program right now - but giving away something for free isn't overrated. Crack dealers do it all the time. And, word will spread and they will come ... But in two short days, out of thousands of books, my humble little book has shot up to #7 in Women's Fiction, #10 in Christian Fiction, and from #400 to #135 overall in books.  So, I'm doing my happy dance. If you're a kindle prime user - go be one of the thousands that have downloaded it this week!  Here's a link for your convenience .

Review Me Please

Image
Hey, you guys! As you read my book, I want to invite you to write a review on Amazon. If you have an account through Amazon, you can review my book here ! I hope you'll thoroughly enjoy it, and take the time to jot a few things down for me in order to promote it through Amazon. Thank you! Tomorrow morning, I have my first book signing at my university library. It's their Homecoming weekend, and part of the festivities is their first alumni book signing event. It's an honor to be asked to be involved. I only have fifteen books to take with me for this one, but I am not worried as most people who want it will hold off for the big event in downtown OKC. Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill is graciously hosting my launch party on November 20th. If anyone is in OKC that night let me know!
