My husband bought me a Wii for my birthday. Well let me clarify that he didn't think I could wait for my birthday, so I received it 'unwrapped' three days early because he didn't think I could wait. LOL. It was a week before we were to leave on our vacation, so we let our son play it a little more than we should. After all, we were leaving in about a week and had lots of things to do in preparation for our trip. So a little more time on it here and there was the lazy way out for us...for me. Ah, the slippery slope. Then, when we got back about a week and a half ago. It was, "I wanna play the Wii"...."I wanna play the Wii". I didn't go overboard on it, but he again played it more than normal. It was about an hour and a half a day...not all at once...but in its entirety. And it was always after lunch...as morning is too early for any media. I feel I'm a baaaad mom for letting it get that far. So this week...I'm Wii'd o...

So I've been in Hawaii since Friday. We spent Fri-Monday on Oahu with my family and had pot luck dinner Hawaiian style the first night. Thirty-plus family and friends came and it was so sweet. My Anti Aimie made special food for my husband since he has severe food allergies. My son got to see all my favorite places that I would frequent when I was his age. It was so cool to see this whole new world through his eyes. Since Monday, we've been chillin' in a multi-millionaire home that my brother-in-law booked for the week. We all are chipping in to stay here, and it's still less per night than most hotels. So it's like we have our own private resort, with a luxury that we could never afford. Scott and Mindy get married tomorrow, which is the main reason we made this trip. I can't wait to see them take their vows on the beach in front of a small select group. I'm so happy for the two of them and can't wait to see them stand up tomorrow. My ...

This Christmas we've been on quite a strict budget, so we've been really creative in how and what we're doing for Christmas. Although I've never been one to re-gift, I've kept what I call my 'gift' closet. It's full of things that I've received which are nice gifts but are items I've never been able to use due to various reasons. It may have been a duplicate of something I already had, or maybe just not my taste. I keep gifts that I buy throughout the year in my gift closet, as well as the items that I would 'someday' re-gift. That someday is now. I've never re-gifted to date, but with little to no money at this point I'm now willing to use my gift closet and it's resources without hesitation. As I started looking through my closet, I realized I had no paper to wrap them in. So, my son and decided to wrap them all in newspaper and draw red bows on each package. I'm sure it's a little cheesy, but I can rest easy...
