Happy Birthday Babe

Image
This past summer, my husband and I celebrated our fifteenth wedding anniversary.  Since today is his birthday, I thought I'd post a few things about him that make my heart smile. Anytime I'm grouchy or in a bad mood - he always finds ways to make me laugh.   He always drops whatever he has going on to spend time with our son, even if he's pressed with a million deadlines at work. Anytime anyone needs anything - help to move, an extra hand, an ear - he's the first in line. His heart is so tender. He is a man of faith, who understands that life is short and a gift. When he can beat our neighbors outside on the weekend, he mows and edges their yards along with ours.  He's that guy - the one to work on your yard. He's the last to tell anyone about something he's done - because he's humble. And he's always got a song lyric or song to go along with any conversation.   In short, life is never ever boring with this guy. And I'm so bl...

Meet the Set Director For Finding Kylie

Image
Okay - I admit - this is a horrible photo of me, but I had to introduce you to my set director for the reading of Finding Kylie. The date is set for October 3rd, and she has such vision and passion that I know it's going to turn out great! We met for lunch today and she (upon meeting me for the first time) enveloped me in a huge hug. I knew I loved her ... she has a heart and a bright smile. We talked about the visuals she's going to put in place and then, in turn, asked me about who each character was.  Not just 'what does Timothy look like?' but 'Who is he and what makes him tick?' This way when casting they would put the right actor in place to make each character as authentic as possible. By the questions, she asked I could tell she'd poured over the script, not just perused it.  So I had to ask her ... what she thought.  Her words blew me away.  In essence, she loved it.  This is a well-versed professional, who knows her stuff, and she loved ...

Humbling to Say the Least ...

Today, I released Saving Grace.  I didn't expect a lot as I didn't do a ton to spread the word on this book compared to previous novels that I've released.  However, today it's slowly climbed in the best sellers list to reach #18 in the top #25 in the  Best Sellers in  Christian Mystery & Suspense Romance  category. I am super humbled to see how many of you have downloaded the Kindle version of this book. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

Finding Kylie - The Script

After Finding Kylie was published, a film producer from London reached out to me asking to be a part of the script, insisting that it would be perfect for the screen.  He also warned it was a TON of hard work invested with a LONG turn around as the film industry can take years.
I thought, 'Okay a couple years. I can handle that.' However, here we are about eight years later and a major door finally opened.    For the last four years, we've been trying to get a hard read set up.  For those of you who have no idea what a hard read is, I'll explain.  It's basically doing a dry run or a read with real actors, to make sure it is what we think it is 'off the paper'. We've written the script, and in our heads (in 2D) it's perfect - but when acted out or read aloud in 3D - it may not sync.  This just helps me and John , who is the film producer and my writing partner for the script, see it in person to finesse it so that we can ...

What's in a Name?

When creating names for my character in any of my books, sometimes deep thought goes into what I name them ... and then one name will just spark something within and it becomes a name, which was meant to be. Sometimes a name may come to me in a dream. Then there are always those particular readers that send me an email or leave a good review, and if they make me smile - their first name may make it into my next book. So tell me - if you've read my books - which character has spoken to you most? Would have been the same if Chastity Banks were named Pam Brown? Or did her name, Chastity, give her something extra in your imagery of how she portrayed the character? As I'm creating my fifth book, I'm loving some of the names that have come to me. I'm still re-working how they fit together. However, I'd love to hear from you ... write to me at kimberlymckayauthor@gmail.com and tell me who your favorite character has been to date. If your words speak to me -- y...
