Without a Doubt

Growing up, we never participated in Lent ... as we were Protestants.  However, I went to a Catholic private school for a few years as a kid.  So I was familiar with the different traditions, like Ash Wednesday or Lent. Over the last decade or so, Lent is been more mainstream through other churches, other than just Catholic. My sister has always participated, and within the last five to seven years my mother followed suit.  I never felt it necessary.  After all ... I tried to live the right kind of life year-round ... right? Well, I've said this before and I'll repeat it here. When it seems like your faith is exactly where you think it should be - when you think you're at your peak in your walk ... watch out.  Because God is so big, and His ways are so great - that you can never stop learning.  And when you feel you're doing just fine in your walk ... you're probably coasting. Home on the range

I'm home and bushed. I walked for two days in my heels in the rain and drove over 500 miles. I got a lot accomplished for work, and I am glad I went. The best part was visiting family nearby. I loved spending the night at my grandparent's home. I hadn't been there since my grandfather's death in 2000. That town holds so many haunting memories for me that it had always been hard to even think about returning. It was good to visit my grandmother and get some closure on that chapter in my life as well. It was healing on so many levels. The drive between multiple towns was extremely relaxing. I took many photographs which you can see on my flicker site, but I'll post a few for fun. The only sad part was all the flooding. Oklahoma has had a lot...I mean a lot of rain, so driving held a lot of areas that were underwater. Thankfully the highway I was on was over some of the newly formed lakes that settled onto the low ground. I took lots of pictures o...

raging stomach virus

It's storming severely outside, much like the way I feel inside. My son rarely gets sick, but in the last six months, it's always something. Fortunately, he is never as sick as most kids get. He's pretty strong, but last night was a different story. I've been up all night with his little tummy cramping. Almost every hour on the hour it would get so bad that he'd start crying and then release a little...enough that he might sleep for twenty minutes or so. I put a warm compress on his stomach...I rubbed his back, and just rocked him as gently as I could. He only threw up once THANK GOD! My little guy finally fell asleep around 4 a.m. and is still in his room sawing logs. I'm worn out...my nickname fits today, but I am also so grateful his tummy isn't causing him any grief at the moment. Nothing is worse than when your child is in pain, and you can't do anything to stop it. I would change places with him in a heartbeat to relieve his agony. ...
