Worn thin

Today I feel as if I've earned my blog name, wornoutwoman. You can read more about it here.

I'm in desperate need of sleep, but cannot complain as my husband hasn't slept since Thursday.

Today we visited the health fair and my mom and I got our glucose and cholesterol checked. I came in above average in my good levels and way below the bad levels, so I'm very healthy. Yay!

When my son saw my mom's finger pricked, he was fascinated with the whole process. The nurse gave him the band-aid to put on her finger. She called him her little doctor and told him she'd be his nurse when he grew up. He was very impressed with himself. When it came time to prick my finger, he started crying because he couldn't stand to see me bleeding. He just teared up and pouted. It made me so sad. He's had a lot to deal with this weekend, again you'll have to read the post link up above to read more about that.

The nurse asked her little doctor if he'd like to make his mommy better by putting a band-aid on her. Of course, he couldn't wait to attend to my needs and get me bandaged. Afterward, she gave him an extra band-aid and some latex gloves for future use--for when he became a doctor.

So today, most of the day...he's had those things on giving me a check-up. It's been so sweet seeing him fix whatever he feels like has broken on me. He's asked me lots of questions, but I kept dozing off! I think two nights of no sleep is catching up with me.

Tonight I'm taking a little sleep aid and getting some quality shut eye!

We have some things in common. I'm a working mom, too, and often exhausted. I slept very late today as it was the first day in a very long time I didn't have anything planned.

Our dogs have gotten out (and our cats). So far, we've always managed to round up the dogs within 20 minutes or so. Sometimes the cats take longer. Our neighbors hate for the cats to be out, so unlike normal people, we have to keep them in. As our cats are black and one is completely black - the main one that always tries to escape - it's almost impossible to find him when he escapes at night. He waits for us to come in and he rushes out. Smart cat.
Just like the nurse we need to listen and observe - your boy was special that day - he is always special and needs to know that. Good job mom!

Did you used to attend WCON? Mark is in Ethiopia with Lorraine and Carolyn and the rest of the team (and two others from our church) on a Work and Witness trip. They will return on April 13th.

Did I meet you at WCON? I meet Mark in 1988 and we were married in 1990 at WCON. I was also a member at WCON. I do not remember meeting you. But I have to ask. Are you Lynn's daughter Cheri? I remember Mark mentioning you were here visiting WB and you were going to go see Mark at one of our son's football games and you never came by. Thank you for praying for our family. The boys and I miss Mark very much being in Ethiopia. I have a hard time sleeping at night, everytime I wake at night I pray for Mark and the team.
God Bless,
Laura Sluss

Cute! I remember when I used to try to cure my grandma of all her ailments when I was like 4 or 5. One day she said her head hurt, so I did what any self respecting doctor would do. I got out a "saw" and proceeded to cut her head off.

I hope you get some sleep!

My son, who has had a lot of health problems and spends tons of time with medical professionals, has started to enjoy playing with his Fisher Price doctor's kit. It used to be, if you mentioned anything doctor related, he'd throw a fit. He even went as a doctor for Halloween!
